Another one bites the dust

I should've known it was too good to last. Warner Brothers, which owns the copyrights on the Harry Potter movies, forced theaters to cancel screenings of Brad Neely's Wizard People, Dear Reader this weekend.

To be honest, I'm surprised. Warner Brothers has known about the film for almost a year and, until last week, hadn't attempted to shut it down. Granted, the film's screening at the Rotterdam Film Festival was canceled, but only because the festival organizers insisted that Warner Brothers actively approve the screening in advance.

Fortunately, we haven't received any threats for hosting Wizard People on the Illegal Art Exhibit site. So if you haven't yet seen this bit of genius, you can still download it there.

UPDATE: Nice review from The Boston Globe (scroll down). See also Daniel Radosh's piece in Salon.
